Job Description General Purpose of Job/Summary : A front desk receptionist performs basic clerical task such as greeting patient with a caring, respectful, and professional demeanor to ensure our patients have a pleasant experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : · Welcome and greet patients and visitors, in person and over the phones · Collect and input accurate demographic information for new patients; update same for existing patients · Collect and input accurate insurance information for new patients; update same for existing patients · Verify patient’s insurance eligibility · Verify prior authorization is on file · Schedule and/or reschedule patient’s appointments according to each doctor’s unique scheduling guidelines · Collect co-pays and prior balance payments, if applicable · Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized · Protect patient confidentiality, making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight · Follow up patient calls where necessary · Perform other clerical duties as assigned · Willing to travel to other clinic sites Education/Experience: · High School diploma or equivalent required. · One (1) year Patient/customer service in a physician office setting is preferred. Technical Experience : · Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Excel preferred. · Strong Clerical skills: typing, filing and record keeping. · Organizational skills: ability to see the larger focus and streamline processes and procedures Other Skills/Requirements : · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) required. Confident and capable communicating with patients/customers inside and outside the Company. Adapts to multiple and rapidly changing priorities and deadlines. Works well under pressure and maintains a sense of urgency. Handles Company business with the utmost of professionalism, discretion and tact. Excellent organizational skills. Other Important Attributes : · Composed demeanor, pleasant, polished image and professional appearance, positive attitude and customer-oriented approach are priorities for this position. · Exercises good judgment, uses discretion and keeps personal and personnel matters confidential and keeps supervisor and HR apprised of employee-sensitive issues. · Keeps processes moving forward and takes initiative as appropriate. · Upbeat, friendly and helpful attitude and manner at all times is very important in this role. · Friendly, helpful team player with a positive, customer-service attitude. · Good problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to work independently, productively and effectively manage concurrent tasks within a rigid time schedule required. · Flexible, versatile and quickly adapts to rapidly changing priorities. Remains calm under pressure. · Dependable, reliable with an excellent attendance track record. · Exercise good judgment and take initiative to properly address and resolve issues. · Keep supervisor and co-workers up-to-date on issue and project status. · Perform work with appropriate sense of urgency and importance.
