Assisting in certification to the ISO 9001-2000 standard (QMS). Assists in supplier negotiations, the vendor approval process, developing alternate sources and evaluating vendor performance. Maintain solid professional relationships with vendors while continually working to obtain favorable pricing and discount structures. Supports efforts associated with the selection of materials needed by R&D for testing and evaluation purposes. Develops resolution / plans for addressing obsolete /slow moving materials Evaluate business segment(s) seasonality in developing forecasts of raw materials to support future production and customer demand. Assist with resolving defective or unacceptable goods with quality personnel, R&D and suppliers, with identifying root cause and having corrective action completed & documented.Develop cost savings initiatives with suppliers and through other innovative means that allows for a reduction in DOS and transportation costs.Location:Southern AlabamaWhat we are looking for in a candidate:2-year degree and at least 3-5 years purchasing and inventory management work experience. Experience in resin, plastic, polymer market trends and global purchasing knowledge a plus. BA/BS preferred. Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to identify and articulate issues, problems, and concerns; make sound judgments on the phone and in person; establish and maintain communication with all levels of management; and develop team relationships. Must possess knowledge of production management and computer skills to include Office Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and JD Edwards/MRP software. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
