:Use written and oral tests, as well as special instruments to diagnose the nature and extent of impairment and to record and analyze speech, language, and swallowing irregularities
:Develop an individualized plan of care tailored to each clients needs
:Select alternative communication methods appropriate per the client, including animated devices and sign language, and teach their use to individuals with little or no speech capability
:Teach those with little or no speech capability how to make sounds, improve their voices, or increase their language skills to communicate effectively so clients can fulfill their educational, vocational, and social roles
:Work with family members to recognize and change behavior patterns that impede communication and treatment and show them communication:enhancing techniques to use at home
:Keep records of initial, progress, and discharge of client

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
:Masters degree in speech language pathology
:State licensure in Alabama
:Current registration and in good standing with regulatory body
:Minimum one year experience
:Preferred home care experience
:Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
:Required to submit to annual TB screen
:Willingness to comply by participation in any training BrightStar provides as required by provincial Occupational Health and Safety legislation to ensure employee safety
:Ability to effectively communicate diagnostic test results, diagnoses, and proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by their clients and family
:Ability to approach problems objectively and be supportive
:Adhere to HIPAA and maintain client confidentiality
Ability to write routine reports and required correspondence as required by BrightStar Speech Therapist guidelines. Ability to respond professionally on behalf of BrightStar. Must be able to appropriately respond to and maintain confidential information at all times.
Requires the ability to prioritize and complete work on time, be detail:oriented, exhibit a service orientation to both staff and clients and be a professional team player with a positive attitude. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Must possess the ability to handle confidential information and act as the BrightStar spokesperson. Must also possess the ability to respond appropriately in an objective manner in all situations.
