Staff Hunters is recruiting for a Category Manager for a client in Southern Maine. The Category management function will help to manage the company procurement category management function for multi plant location in the United States, Canada and Mexico with respect to the purchase of Technical MRO (maintenance, repair and operating supplies) items and/or Capital Goods and Services. This individual will work to ensure a sustainable competitive cost advantage to new and existing businesses throughout North America. The Category Manager will execute his or her responsibilities and establish the strategy for Buyers and interacting with the International Category Manager/Lead Buyer network. Responsibilities Manage supplier contract/price negotiations as it pertains to MRO, including preparation of tender documents and evaluation of the bid documents. Negotiate the optimization/extension of existing contracts and catalogs, including the generation of new contracts and catalogs. Dollar ranges up to $30 MM/year Running national bids and implementations Identify and document savings potential, especially in terms of sustainability and EBIT relevance, for process related savings, amongst others in the context of using sourcing channels Provide category strategy development and implementation (scoping, planning, risk management, stakeholder management, reporting/controlling) Regular review of existing/development of new category strategies for the assigned categories. Identify and communicate regional market trends for the assigned categories Conduct strategic supplier evaluation, also considering sustainability aspects, as well as development of alternative suppliers (reducing dependence on suppliers, make-or-buy decisions Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required (Technical Degree Preferred), with 5 yrs. purchasing experience in a related field of expertise, or in other fields with focus on internal and/or external customers. Minimum 5 years’ experience in chemical industry experience, preferred. Purchases MRO/capital goods up to $30MM, in order to fulfill the short and long-term requirements of the Business segments in North America. Must possess knowledge of business law, accounting principals, state tax laws, "Occupational Safety & Health Act" (OSHA), "Environmental Protection Agency" (EPA) and state licensing regulations, as well as a basic understanding of Quality Management Systems.
