This is semiskilled work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. An employee in a position allocated to this classification is responsible for assisting and/or performing work on electrical systems and related equipment in accordance with standard practices of the trade; installing, maintaining, altering, and repairing wiring, power appliances, light machinery, and electrical circuits; installing, maintaining, and repairing electric motors, generators and related electrical and mechanical equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a technical supervisor or Electrician II and is reviewed while in progress and upon completion for workmanship and satisfactory performance. Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and mechanical equipment. May install, maintain, alter, and repair wiring, power appliances, light machinery and electrical circuits. Installs electrical fixtures and appliance in newly constructed buildings. May locate and correct power failure and short circuits. Performs electrical work on photoelectric cells, time clocks, electric heaters, air conditions, motor generator sets, and air compressors May make emergency repairs to elevators, generators, electrical appliances and equipment, and other electrical apparatus. May be required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to and from work sites or transport materials. Regular and prompt attendance. Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. Performs related duties as required.High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in electrical work; or Successful completion of a one year program of study in electrical work at an accredited vocational/technical school or community college
