HVAC Technician I (Medxcel Facilities Management)Job ID 2017-7604Location US-AL-MobileCategory FacilitiesCompany Name Medxcel Facilities ManagementMore information about this jobOverviewThe Facilities HVAC Technician 1 installs, operates and maintains the organization's heating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The Facilities HVAC technician 1 is responsible for identifying repair and/or replacement needs, then completing installations and repairs. This position also conducts preventative maintenance and upgrades for HVAC systems and equipment. The Facilities HVAC Technician 1 assists associates within and outside of their trade.ResponsibilitiesMaintaining HVAC systems - 80%Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on all heating, air conditioning, ice making, refrigeration, and ventilation systems.Maintains and applies current knowledge of steam distribution, piping, valves, chilled and hot water reheat systems and Pressure Reducing Value (PRV) operation.Inspects HVAC systems and their components (eg heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.Maintains knowledge of departmental equipment procedures for power outages.Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.May coordinate, maintain and repair all energy management systems. Special Projects - 20%Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.Assists with special projects as assignedOther duties as assignedQualificationsEducation and Work ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED required. Graduate of Trade School OR 3 years of journeyman HVAC Technician experience required. Universal EPA Refrigerant Certification required.Valid driver's license required.KnowledgeWithin the scope of the job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.Review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and solve practical problems.
